Due to the high interest in our program, tours are held by appointment only. We are happy to answer general questions on the phone or by email. Please use the link at the bottom of this page or contact us to schedule a tour.
-
We suggest both parents, if applicable, attend the tour. For Elementary and Adolescent applicants, a tour is also a part of the admissions process. Adolescents and older children enjoy being a part of the decision-making process, and we enjoy sharing our campus with prospective students and their families. Tours for prospective students may be during the initial tour or at a later date.

Admissions to The Mosaic Field School is determined after careful consideration of the appropriate placement of each student based on their developmental needs. Criteria for acceptance are based on the student’s age and readiness to take full advantage of what the school has to offer and on the parents’ commitment to our philosophy.

No, children and teens do not need to have a Montessori background. For entry into The Children’s Garden and for the Elementary programs through age 10 with no prior Montessori experience, children will integrate into the classroom that would best meet their needs. For children reaching the end of their elementary years with a non-Montessori background, our Transitions program is a Montessori prepared environment that works with non-Montessori students to help them gain independence, nurture their curiosity, and work in collaborative groups. Teens in The Mosaic Adolescent Community will use some of the same materials that are used in primary and elementary Montessori classrooms, but they use them in vastly different ways. This means that a Montessori background is not necessary to fully participate in the adolescent program at The Mosaic Field School.

The Mosaic Field School accepts students on a rolling basis. We set student start dates based on an evaluation of the new student and what makes sense based on community activities, travel plans, and integrated study milestones to ensure a smooth transition for new students.

There is not currently a waiting list; however, our enrollment is limited to provide the best experience possible for our students. Apply early to ensure a spot will be available.

The Mosaic Field School is pleased to be working towards accreditation and recognition with some of the best organizations in the Montessori and Private School educational spaces. Understandably, schools need to be open and have a demonstrable history before gaining accreditation! The Mosaic Field School has applied for recognition with Association Montessori Internationale and will be completing the process during the current academic year for our Adolescent Community. We have applied for membership with the Georgia Independent Schools Association (GISA), and we look forward to working through the accreditation process with them. We also look forward to being a part of the vibrant Independent Schools community that is connected through the GISA. Check back here for updates as we progress through the stages of accreditation.

While our program can be tailored and individualized to meet diverse learning interests and needs, we do not have the capacity to provide one-to-one ratios for instruction. We are working with our students to gain independence, and working independently is an expectation. While many aspects of an IEP are automatically a part of our approach, constant one-to-one instructional relationships are not part of our pedagogy.

Yes, the overnight trips are a key experience for the programs at The Mosaic Field School. Children and teens develop resilience, independence, and confidence during this special time away from home. A quote often attributed to Maria Montessori is that she believed we need to give the children roots and wings. We do this in partnership with our families, and we need your support to make our trips a positive, life-changing, formative experience. If overnight trips are not a part of what you value about an educational experience, our program might not be a good fit for your child or teen.
